Thanksgiving at the Mission - 2007

This year's Thanksgiving was a huge success. Thanks to all the donors and volunteers that came together to make this possible. Also, we'd like to extend our deepest appreciation to Dilworth Neighborhood Grille whose staff provided the breakfast and served it. Needed: Homemade Deserts for Thanksgiving

We need your sweets! That's right, every year at our Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless we serve homemade deserts - pies, cookies, cakes...anything and everything. These pastries are provided by donors just like you. What a difference it can make to a homeless person... who knows where their last meal came from? If you can bake a pie or desert of any kind, please bring them by our main location at:
907 West First St
Charlotte, NC 28202
Remember, we need them by Thursday morning. God bless and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

When a Client "Get's It" For the First Time

“I get it”. Those are the words I love to hear. When a client says, “I get it”, things have changed dramatically in his life. He is no longer being an observer – he is a participant. He realizes God’s love is for him and him alone. He knows that the New Life we speak about can occur. I heard it the other day as I was entering the Mission. The client stopped me and said, “I get it”. I was concerned about him. Today, I’m excited about his future.

New Study Says 1 out of 4 Homeless are Veterans

And homelessness is not just a problem among middle-age and elderly veterans. Younger veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan are trickling into shelters and soup kitchens seeking services, treatment or help with finding a job.

Thanksgiving at the Mission

Thanksgiving is an incredible time here at Charlotte Rescue Mission. We start at 6am with a hot breakfast. Movies and cell phones are enjoyed. A hot Thanksgiving dinner is served. Our “dinner guests” feel loved because of the care and attention they receive.

I remember the client I met outside our kitchen door. Just a few days before, he came to our Thanksgiving dinner under the influence of alcohol. Amazed at how well we treated him, he entered our Rebound Men’s recovery program. Months later, he was attending Central Piedmont Community College.

Your support is so important in allowing broken lives to realize there is hope for them.
